Data for making forecast must be provided in tabular form in the Excel Input Sheet. The example dataset test.xlsm and the forecast output forecast_output_test.xlsm are available to download via the file links. Please refer to section 8 on how to open the files in your computer after downloading!
The example dataset contains United States (US) fiscal data, including revenue, expenditure, interest payments, and the primary balance, all expressed as ratios to nominal GDP. The data were sourced from the World Economic Outlook database. We used the same dataset as the original macroframe-forecast study to replicate the results presented in the paper.
Please ensure data are prepared in the following formats:
- Time column must be one of: Year, Quarter, Month, Week, Day
- Leave forecast horizon rows blank
- Each variable must be numeric
